[00:00:00] Welcome back to combattalk.fm. My name is Leisler. I'm your host. We're going to crash

[00:00:12] course through our week in the box. We've got a number of fights on deck and I'm going

[00:00:15] to start out with some chaos that happened. I also want to talk a little bit about WWE

[00:00:20] not spend a lot of time on it. WWE, of course, WrestleMania wrapped up excessive amounts

[00:00:25] of hours. I wasn't really, you know, I'm not going to waste time on it. The rocks gone again.

[00:00:31] He's gone back to Hollywood. I believe it is. So all the fun shit is pretty much, I mean, they

[00:00:36] have other things, you know, like Drew McIntyre and but none of them came close to the rock. The

[00:00:41] rock was doing big stuff. The rock was doing great stuff and none of them could come close to

[00:00:46] him and that showed he basically exposed the whole locker room and he spiked business. We

[00:00:51] could talk about the CM punks. He's injured. His promos are good, but he's injured. He's old, you know,

[00:00:56] the rocks old, but he can still go punk. You know, he can't. So I wasn't impressed with anything

[00:01:02] else that's there that I know some people were talking about the women's matches. I believe

[00:01:06] that you need sex back in wrestling because you need to sell the core demographic. I believe

[00:01:10] that it's not about the matches. I think you need to sell the characters. You need to

[00:01:14] sell the stories and with the women in particular, you need the men involved. You

[00:01:17] have Rhea Ripley having her man get knocked out right in front of her and she barely does anything

[00:01:22] about it. We know that's not real. That's not how women really act. So I didn't like it. And then

[00:01:28] with the rock gone, it's kind of up in the air. What's going to happen? Plus Roman Reigns potentially

[00:01:32] not coming back. So WWE might go into a stale state here soon. I can't say for sure. There was

[00:01:39] a lot of crazy nonsense at WrestleMania that I wasn't a fan of. So all the good stuff I

[00:01:44] told you about, if you focus on the rock stuff, it was great. Everything else is like land and then

[00:01:49] Austin didn't show up. So that's out there now in boxing world, crazy stuff happening because

[00:01:54] you got Terrence Budcroffer who ducked a boots in this recently. And then he allegedly came out

[00:01:59] on social media said the Lions back looking for prey. And I tweeted on social media,

[00:02:04] long as you barefooted because you don't want anybody that wears boots. And that's just the

[00:02:07] fact of what it is. He'll find anybody else that's not, he talks about pray. Pray is somebody

[00:02:13] where you're the A side. He doesn't want somebody where he's the A side. He wants to be fighting

[00:02:17] against somebody who is going to be the B side against and then he wanted to declare he's the A

[00:02:21] side, not being Canelo. Canelo doesn't want to fight Crawford because he knows it's a waste of

[00:02:26] time. Crawford doesn't draw Kings Island family being. And so that's not, you know, and then

[00:02:30] we don't know what's happening with Spencer Fondor. It's not finalized. But the theory is

[00:02:34] that Fondor will drop the WBO to fight Earl Spence, not confirmed as of yet. Meanwhile,

[00:02:39] you got stankonia apparently was made interim. I believe he's WBA and then Cody Crowley is interim

[00:02:45] as well. So it's becoming interesting 147. As I said, Crawford's got people breathing down his

[00:02:50] neck. He doesn't want to fight any of them. He's staying inactive at this point. He'll be

[00:02:53] inactive for a year and it is what it is. Speaking of Terence Crawford crying Garcia has

[00:02:58] been talking about everybody, everybody literally including Crawford. He could call out to

[00:03:03] Terence Crawford, which, you know, Crawford would likely take that fight because it's

[00:03:07] a lightweight. So yeah, sure. Why not? Why? Why find a welterweight where you can find a

[00:03:11] lightweight just because it's money draw. But I don't think Crawford will take it seriously.

[00:03:15] I'm joking when I say that half joking, but then Ryan put out a crap rap, you know, it was to

[00:03:22] one of these old beats and it was a terrible, terrible freaking rap horrible. And I said,

[00:03:27] Haney needs to respond with no Vaseline cause of course it's Ryan and Oscar De La Jolla,

[00:03:32] you know what I'm saying? So crying Garcia is selling the fight that's happening next

[00:03:35] weekend. I believe it is. So I can't fault him for selling the fight, but he's acting like a

[00:03:39] nutcase and everybody, everybody's seeing it. The ticket sales are down. Nobody's buying it.

[00:03:44] They actually had to drop the price of the pay-per-view because nobody was going to pay no $90

[00:03:48] for a pay-per-view to watch these two and they're going to pirate the fight anyway.

[00:03:52] Ryan's drawing power has decreased. He got knocked out by Tank Davis. He's talking

[00:03:57] like a nutcase. All he has is social media at this point. It's not that he's not

[00:04:01] talented, but the point is all he has is social media and Devin Haney looks spectacular at 140.

[00:04:06] I expect Devin Haney is going to complete the embarrassed this guy. That's how I feel about it.

[00:04:11] Anyway, let's talk about this weekend's fights at the Manchester arena in the UK on Duzone,

[00:04:16] 12 rounds at super featherweight action, Jordan Gill versus Zelfa Barrett.

[00:04:20] Decent fight. It's matched well on the numbers. Both guys are on somewhat of a rebuild. It's

[00:04:25] a great fight for those over the seas there, but it's a good match fight on the numbers.

[00:04:30] I'm not crapping on the people. I just think it's, you know, for the best you got this on you know,

[00:04:36] I thought they could do better. Most people are cheering for Barrett. I've got Gill and the

[00:04:40] reason I've got Gill is very simple. Barrett strikes me as one who has lapses in judgment

[00:04:45] at times. He seems to, he'll do great. And then for whatever reason he has lapses

[00:04:50] and that's all that showcases last fight. I don't know what it is. I can't say the

[00:04:55] specifics, but it just seems like he drops the ball and that bothers me at least. But Gill is sharp.

[00:05:02] He had, he had gotten stopped a fight before, but other than that, he's sharp. He makes mistakes,

[00:05:07] but not as much as I saw Barrett. I'm leaning Gill on that one. Maybe I get it wrong. Who knows?

[00:05:13] Undercard to that same event, 10 rounds at women's super banter weight action,

[00:05:17] Ellie Scott, me versus second lean versus I can't even pronounce that last name. Second

[00:05:23] lean. Sorry. And it may even be pronounced wrong. I think she's from,

[00:05:26] I don't know. She's finished or something. I'm not sure. So I didn't want to do her

[00:05:30] disservice by trying to pronounce the last name. I apologize. Ellie Scott. I am a big fan of them.

[00:05:35] I think Ellie Scott me is quality, but she's up against the test based on the numbers.

[00:05:40] I did watch her opponents fights couple and she's skilled, no power, but she's talented.

[00:05:45] She's really skilled. And although she's older, she seems like she's got more experience

[00:05:51] overall. She has, she's been in the game longer or more rounds in the books. So I wouldn't,

[00:05:56] I wouldn't be surprised, I guess to see Scott need take a loss this time. It's a good test of a fight,

[00:06:00] especially if you like the women's action. Undercard to that same event, 10 rounds at women's

[00:06:06] lightweight action, Rhiannon Dixon fighting Karen Carbahaul. And I love both women.

[00:06:11] Absolutely. Carbahaul had a loss most recently that was, I think it,

[00:06:16] she's rebuilding, but I think it didn't, it didn't hold her back mentally. She seems like

[00:06:20] she's meant still in the game, but she's older. So to be harder for her to rebound is my point.

[00:06:26] And she's going to get to South Paul and Dixon. So I'm leaning Dixon this one for sure,

[00:06:30] even though Dixon has way less experience. I think the South Paul is going to play a factor

[00:06:34] that one undercard of that same event, 10 rounds of super featherweight action,

[00:06:38] Michael Gomez Jr fighting Kane Baker didn't know anything about Baker. I looked at some

[00:06:43] fights was not really impressed Gomez Jr. decently impressed decent good boxer. He's a

[00:06:49] pure boxer. I wouldn't say stellar or spectacular. It's matched decently well

[00:06:54] on the numbers, roughly same height, same reach, everything else. So I, this one feels like it's

[00:07:00] going to be a stinker though. It feels like it's going to be a kind of a chess match boring

[00:07:04] type of fight that goes the distance. That's my gut. They're super feathers. So hopefully

[00:07:07] that's not the case, but that's what it looks like to me when I watched it.

[00:07:11] Now we're going to switch to the U S American bank center out in Corpus Christi in Texas,

[00:07:15] 10 rounds of heavyweight action. This is on ESPN, the U S sky sports, the UK headline event,

[00:07:21] 10 rounds that heavyweight action Jared Anderson makes his return against Ryan Murray.

[00:07:26] This height, this fight's being hyped to the moon for Jared Anderson. Jared Anderson,

[00:07:31] of course, is undefeated. I've not been impressed with Jared Anderson. His record is good,

[00:07:36] but I've not been impressed with him as a fighter. It feels like he's being pushed

[00:07:38] a little bit too soon. Feels like he's just waiting for the right opportunity to get upset.

[00:07:44] Mary's not going to do that. Jared Anderson is going to walk through the dude and that's not

[00:07:48] ding and Mary, but it's levels at the level. Anderson's way far superior than what Mary's doing,

[00:07:55] but I do think that again, I just think that Jared Anderson is being pushed the wrong way.

[00:08:01] Now maybe just maybe Mary's pulls something out and exposes something that we all see. I

[00:08:07] can't say that because no, but I just think Mary's got nothing for the guy. We'll see what

[00:08:12] happens here. If he had Java fighting Guido Viennelo, a really good fight. A job as he had that I got

[00:08:22] completely dominated, but other than that, he bounced back. He's been solid other than the DQ

[00:08:28] in his favor. Other than that, he's been solid since that complete wash that he experienced on

[00:08:34] decision and then Viennelo is a decent good fighter. He got stopped in his last fight,

[00:08:39] but he's power. He's range. He's a good fighter. It's just, he got stopped.

[00:08:46] So I think it's a good match. She's my point. I think it's good number match. I think they're

[00:08:49] roughly equivalent, believe it or not, close to the number of fights. A job has been in the

[00:08:55] business a little bit longer, but I think it's a good match for both guys. It's a good match to

[00:08:59] see as rebuilds and a job to continue his momentum. I think it's a good fight to have,

[00:09:04] especially if you're going to be non-paper view. And this is ESPN plus, so that's good.

[00:09:09] Undercard of that same event, 10 rounds of super featherweight action, Henry LeBron fighting

[00:09:13] Charlie Suarez. I had not heard of Suarez. I do know LeBron, but Suarez I hadn't heard of.

[00:09:19] I checked him. I spent the Philippines decent, good fighter. He's older. He's been in the game

[00:09:24] not that long, but he started late. And so when I was looking at the comparison fights,

[00:09:29] you know, LeBron is a South Paul LeBron is a boxer, puncher from what I'm from,

[00:09:34] I can tell, and he's crafty. He has the ability to get the win. He's kind of like a strata. You

[00:09:40] know, he can get the win when he needs to. So they're both undefeated. So this will be a test

[00:09:45] for both guys to see now LeBron. He struggled a little bit in his most recent fight. I wouldn't

[00:09:49] say he was dominated, but he just, he had slipped a little bit. I don't think that was

[00:09:54] anything other than maybe prep, maybe he had a prep issue or just simply bad on the night.

[00:09:59] Maybe you were sick or whatever it was he did. He won, but even look good doing it.

[00:10:03] So he needs to stay focused against Suarez because Suarez is also a boxer, puncher.

[00:10:07] Suarez is going to come forward. Suarez is going to try to prove something,

[00:10:11] especially because of the legacy behind the Philippine fighters. So that one should be a good

[00:10:16] fight. I think it's going to be an action packed fight for as long as it lasts and

[00:10:21] I'm leaning LeBron on that one under card of that same event, 10 rounds of featherweight

[00:10:26] action Ruben Villa versus Christian Cruz Chacon. A good fight. I'm aware both guys saw

[00:10:34] multiple of their fights and it hurts me to see them, you know, at this stage fighting

[00:10:40] because it feels like this is a fight that could have happened a couple of years before.

[00:10:43] Here we are. Villa, I think gets the win. He's a South Paul. He's rangey. He's a very skilled

[00:10:51] boxer, but he's, he can get you out when he wants to. Very sneaky with the shots. Usually a late

[00:10:57] round fighter. So if he can get past Chacon's earliest onslaught, I think it gets to Villa,

[00:11:03] probably by decision is my gut speaking. Then we have a fight that's happening this weekend

[00:11:09] at the Corquan Hall in Tokyo, Japan, 10 rounds of featherweight action. This is on

[00:11:14] Wednesday. Hayato Tosumi fighting on someone, Moreno, a good fight, good, both solid Moreno's older

[00:11:23] Moreno's coming off knockout losses. I say it's a good fight simply because Moreno's going to be

[00:11:29] working hard. He's not going to lay down and it's a good test for Suomi because he doesn't

[00:11:34] have a lot of experience. So Suomi should walk through him, but don't be surprised if Moreno

[00:11:40] gets his hand raised against this because Suomi's early. He's really early in the game.

[00:11:44] He's only had like five fights or four. So I wouldn't, it would not surprise me

[00:11:49] if Moreno pulls something out. That's what we got on deck in the boxing world. We'll check in next week.
